Well, I’m afraid that I’m not really very funny and people don’t generally consider me to be very funny. I suppose my sense of humour is a bit dry, rather ironic and a little bit like sarcastic as well. I suppose that, to a lot of people, this kind of humour is really not funny and some people just don’t understand it. Also, I think my jokes are often just a bit too subtle and maybe it is not very clear what I am laughing about. But, I quite enjoy making jokes and, although most people here in China don’t really find me amusing, I know that my friends back home in Canada think that I’m very funny.
I suppose that in the way I am, because of my age, that I am probably more into being ironic and sarcastic and playing games and I suppose, some people don’t find that amusing. Sometimes, when I’m on my own with people that I know really well, I let go and I am far more funny. I suppose, when you have good friends or people you know well and you are comfortable, it is easy to be playful and funny. But, I don’t consider myself to be really funny. I haven’t got a good story to tell or a good joke. You know, stand up comedians and other famous people on TV are much better than me.
OK, I’ll try… so, where do I start? OK, here’s a good one, it’s a Chinese joke and lots of Chinese people do find this fun…So, this is a bad student, who has had his last chance and is told that if he doesn’t pass this time he will have to repeat that year. The student is working hard and his father comes into the room and asks, ‘my son, are you studying?’. The son replies…..well, what do you think he says? No, ‘I’m playing my XBOX…..I say to myself, ‘I’m studying!’
